The Section G18S National Order of the Arrow High Adventure Scholarship was created in hopes to provide monetary support to Arrowmen within the Section by paying a partial scholarship for attending the National Order of the Arrow High Adventure bases in 2023.
It is the purpose of the Section to provide for the Arrowmen of G18S in hopes to enlighten their Order of the Arrow experience through participation in many different programs. OAHA provides for a comprehensive OA experience through Brotherhood, Cheerfulness, and Service. It is for this reason that Section G18S and its leadership find it so imperative to not only encourage staffing to support these programs but to also offer financial assistance to the Arrowmen of the Cahuilla, Puvunga, and Wiatava lodges to help pay for the program costs.
The Section High Adventure Scholarship is reserved for those individuals who exhibit interest and service as well as a future commitment to the Order of the Arrow in their home lodges. It is expected of the recipients to continue their service in the OA as well as bring their enthusiasm gained from this event back to their home councils, lodges, chapters, and units. Each recipient will be required at the end of their experience to provide the Section with an account of their experiences and photo of them in a program setting that can be posted on the Section website for recognition and promotion for future programs and the scholarship.
The Key 3 (Section Chief, Section Adviser, and Section Staff Adviser) will determine the committee, which will select the recipients and amounts each year.
Requirements to be considered for the 2023 High Adventure Scholarship:
- Must have attended the 2022 Section G18S Conclave
- Must be in good standing with dues paid current with their lodge in Section G18S
- Must have approval from their Lodge Adviser.
- Must have approval from their Council Executive or their designee.
- Must be registered for the 2023 Section G18S Conclave
Applicants will be notified of their selection. The scholarship money will be sent from the Section’s host council to the applicant’s lodge so that it can be applied as a payment of fees. The Lodge will monitor the applicant’s commitment for attendance and refund such back to the Section if the Arrowman does not attend the 2023 High Adventure base – a waiver for such refund could be tendered if unavoidable or emergency conditions arise.
